Welcome to the City Manager's Office: Like many cities in the area, the City of SeaTac has a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council appoints a full-time City Manager to oversee the daily operations of the City, and to advise, implement and administer the policies adopted by the City Council. Functions: The City Manager prepares a proposed budget for the City Council's review and adoption, and ensures that the various departments of the City attain the policy goals and direction set by the City Council. Other functions staffed by the City Manager's Office include: administrative support to the Council, community relations, contract negotiations, economic development, human services, inter-governmental and inter-agency relations with the Airport and Sound Transit, legislative issues, pipeline safety, research on regional issues, and volunteer coordination. The City Manager's office also prepares the Weekly Update and the SeaTac Report - the City's newsletter. Meet the City Manager:
Mr. Craig R. Ward was appointed the SeaTac City Manager on August 9, 2005 Mr. Ward has more than 26 years experience managing public programs. Prior to being appointed City Manager, Mr. Ward served as the Interim City Manager following retirement of the previous City Manager. He was the SeaTac Assistant City Manager since January 2001. Prior to that appointment, as a Principal Planner for SeaTac he directed the City’s long-range land use planning program. He has also been a private sector consultant, served as the Director of the Jefferson County Planning and Building Department, served on the City of Pullman City Council, and was a departmental manager for a regional council of governments. Mr. Ward has a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University (WSU), and two Masters degrees from WSU in Forest Management and Business Management.
