The Planning Department promotes quality community growth and
development in the City of SeaTac through administration of the
development review process for land use permits, ensuring compliance
with City zoning regulations and State environmental laws. The following

The Zoning
Code establishes zoning regulations within the City. From time
to time sections of codes are reviewed for possible amendment, or new
codes are developed. Check Current Planning
Projects for codes currently under review. Public comments are welcome.

LONG RANGE PLANNING
Comprehensive Planning
The Comprehensive Plan establishes the City's goals
and policies for long-range growth with regard to land use, housing,
critical areas, transportation, community image, economic vitality, and parks and
recreation. The Comprehensive Plan
is reviewed and updated
annually with consideration given to amendments proposed by the public.

Area Planning
In
2006, the City adopted the SeaTac/Airport Station Area Action Plan and
the S. 154th St. Station Area Action Plan. These plans envision
new commercial and residential districts in the areas adjacent to Sound
Transit's SeaTac/Airport and Tukwila International Blvd. (S. 154th St.)
Link Light Rail stations. The station area action plans and

Past Subarea Planning
Projects
Detailed future development scenarios for different
areas of the City have been undertaken at the direction of the City Council,
such as for the City Center, the Urban Center, West SeaTac, and Riverton
Heights. Community outreach and input are vital components of subarea

Commission
The
Planning Commission is
a five-member advisory body appointed by the SeaTac City Council. The
Commission provides recommendations to the Council on a variety of land
use and planning issues. More information about the Planning
