VOLUNTEERING AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY

Supporting your City is an investment in your community.  Volunteering your time on a SeaTac Citizen Advisory Committee can be a very rewarding experience.  The various committees have specific focuses and offer recommendations to the City Council in the decision-making and setting of City policies.  These Committees consist of SeaTac residents and persons who own, operate or are employed at a business in the City.   

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at 973-4660 .  Applications are available in the City Clerk’s Office or can be mailed to your residence or business.  Applications will be reviewed as positions become available.  The following is a list of all the City Council Advisory Committees:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE SEATAC CITY COUNCIL WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON OCTOBER 14, 2008 AT 6:00 PM AT THE SEATAC CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 4800 SOUTH 188TH STREET.  THIS HEARING WILL BE TO CONSIDER WHETHER THE FOLLOWING ACTION IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST:

A MOTION CONFIRMING THE RULES OF PROCEDURES FOR HEARINGS CONDUCTED BY THE HEARING EXAMINER.

DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSAL: Demolition of the existing McMicken Heights Elementary School buildings: 1) a 39,391 sq. ft. school building, and 2) smaller individual classroom structures totaling approximately 3,162 sq. ft.  The proposed project also includes the construction of a new 66,500 sq. ft. two story structure.  The existing playfield will be rebuilt and includes a dual function soccer and softball field.

LEAD AGENCY:                                                                               City of SeaTac

The responsible official of the City of SeaTac hereby makes the following determination based upon impacts identified in the environmental checklist and the Final Staff Evaluation for the Environmental Checklist (Case No. SEP08-00019); and, Conclusions of Law based upon the City of SeaTac Comprehensive Plan and other Municipal policies, plans, rules and regulations designated as a basis for the exercise of substantive authority of the Washington State Environmental Policy Act Rules pursuant to R.C.W. 43.21C.060.

The lead agency for this proposal has determined that it does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment, and an environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030(2)(c), only if certain conditions are met.  This decision was made after review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with the lead agency.  The City reserves the right to review any new information, future revisions or alterations to the site or the proposal ( WAC 197-11-340) in order to determine the environmental significance or non-significance of the project at that point of time. Detailed information and copies of the conditions are available to the public on request.

COMMENT PERIOD

This MDNS is issued under WAC 197-11-340(2); the lead agency will not act on this proposal for 14 days from the date of issuance. Comments must be submitted by 5:00 P.M. on October 20, 2008.

APPEAL PERIOD

Any person wishing to appeal this determination may file such an appeal within ten (10) days of the expiration of the comment period to the SeaTac City Clerk.  All appeals of the above determination must be filed by 5:00 P.M. October 30, 2008.  THERE IS A $100.00 FILING FEE TO APPEAL THIS DETERMINATION.
