Transportation Services

The Engineering Division provides the following Transportation Services:

Ten Year Transportation Plan

The City of SeaTac, along with all cities in the State of Washington, is required to adopt a minimum six year Transportation Plan by July 1st of each year. SeaTac elected to have the plan cover a Ten Year Period. In June, a public hearing is held to gather input from the citizens. The plan is formally adopted through a Resolution. The Transportation Plan is a planning document. The City uses it to identify future transportation improvement projects and to request State and/or Federal funds. Many projects on the plan are funded, some are delayed and others may not receive funding. To view the current plan, see the Ten Year Transportation Plan.

Neighborhood Traffic Control

The City of SeaTac has a two-step process for addressing neighborhood traffic control (traffic calming) problems. Measures available range from neighborhood monitoring of traffic speeds to physical control devices such as speed humps and traffic circles. Traffic calming solutions depend on the location and the extent of the problem. Physical control devices require a petition from the affected neighborhood. See  traffic "calming" for more information.

Pavement Ratings and Yearly Overlay Projects

The City of SeaTac rates the paved public streets on a two year cycle. Arterial streets are rated each year, residential streets are rated on alternate years in the north and south half of the City. The ratings provide an indication of the condition of the street pavement and help us to select streets in most need of repair for the yearly Overlay Program. See Pavement Ratings to learn how your street rates. A low rating number indicates poor street conditions. Streets with ratings of less than 60 are candidates for the Overlay Program. For information on our current Overlay Program, see the Overlay Program.
